I know, I know. It’s been awhile.
Oh how I’ve missed you and am happy to be back.
Life has taken a few detours and I needed a little time out.
In the past year, I’ve gotten divorced. I’ve moved three times. I lost two friends in the same week to suicide. I’ve had a year, ok?
Life doesn’t look the way I thought it would look three years ago. Going through difficult situations and stepping out into the unknown sucks.
But even though things are different than I had planned, that’s ok! Facing a changing landscape has opened life up to entirely new and wonderful things. And while I’m definitely not fearless by any means, being in a place that I didn’t expect has shown me that I can take what life throws. That’s the thing about stepping out of your comfort zone – the more you do it, the easier it is to do.
And while technically this year is more than half way over, it’s never too late for a resolution.
This next year is going to be one in which I push myself more than I normally would. I signed up for a half-marathon in November (I hate running), I’ve been going to court more (ewww public speaking!), and I will one day soon make my appointment for my annual physical that I was due for a year ago (needles!).
I’m going to be more disciplined about not putting my own dreams aside out of inconvenience or fear. And I’ll be pushing those around me to do the same (that’s you!).
It’s also going to be a year where I step back and truly appreciate the sweeter things in life – because if this year has taught me anything it’s that life is short. So I’ve been going on long walks, breathing in that salty ocean air, putting away my phone more, and calling old friends and making plans for fun reunions.
What are your July resolutions for life and business? I’d love to hear from you!
